Subject: Top Notch Second Set
I've seen moe. ~35 times since 2001, and >20 of those shows have been in San Francisco. Last night's second set was one of the best sets I've ever seen. In the middle of Bullet, Chuck walks over to the mic in the middle of the stage and says "can we bring it down?", and the whole band backs off into a quieter space. Chuck and Rob duel for a bit, before Chuck slowly brings the Bullet jam back up, building slowly until we're back to a full balls-to-the-wall Bullet jam. The ensuing Puebla was easily the best, most jammed out rocking Puebla I had ever seen. At the end of Puebla I was convinced they were going to finish Moth to end the set, but as the jam built and built it became evident that they were heading towards Brent Black, which finished the segue-fest that was the second set.

The first set was fine, but the last half of it was particularly great. Note the Sesame Street tease and the Dark Star tease between HHH and Mexico -- awesome! There were In A Gadda Da Vida teases in Plane Crash and before Together at Christmas, as well as a Band of Gypsys "Who Knows" tease in Up On Cripple Creek. In Californ IA it sounded like there were Shakedown Street teases but I haven't confirmed those yet. Thanks to the taper for the fast upload, gonna listen back now!
